Demand for an education that is accessible and progressive


 

 

 

  1. Provide alternatives for student payments and ensure justifiable student fees
    1. Establish the Student Council Loan Program (SCLP) that will offer financial services for tuition (SCAF), services (SCCS), thesis and research
    2. Evaluate the policies on financial assistance to ensure equitable grants for all Lasallians
    3. Push for the implementation of the Comprehensive Price Review (CPR) to ensure justifiable student fees*
  2. Engage the student body in the critical evaluation of academic programs
    1. Actively involve student participation in university programs that ensure effectiveness of teaching methods
    2. Restructure the Curriculum Review for the Academic Development of the Lasallian Education (CRADLE) in order to ensure relevance and effectiveness of degree programs
    3. Collaborate university efforts for quality OJT/Practicum/Internship Programs

 

 


Fight for prostudent and pro people university policies



  1. Push for justifiable revisions in the Student Handbook*
    1. Lobby for more efficient ID policies such as satellite offices and multiple-entry passes
    2. Redefine the classification of deadly weapons
    3. Remove minor offenses in locker rentals
    4. Allow students with 0 accumulated failures to graduate with honors
    5. Review DO apprehension and investigation procedures
    6. Redefine the parameters of the eating policy
  2. Heighten student-oriented services and utilization of resources
    1. Lobby for the Student Services Charter* which will include, but are not limited to:
      1. Non-academic Grievance System
      2. Canteen Policy
      3. E-purse
      4. Services Feedback System
    1. Establish the Student Services Research Committee (SSRC) to conceptualize and implement services relevant to the students*
    2. Ensure quality student participation in academic and non-academic competitions by reviving the winners’ pool*
    3. Lobby for the institutionalization of the Student Leadership Program (SLP)*
    4. Fight for the removal of the Rental Fees Policy
  1. Remove unjustifiable policies in the Activities Manual
    1. Policies on fund raising
    2. Policies on accreditation of organizations
    3. Policies on powers and responsibilities of parties involved

 

Ensure an autonomous and genuine student government by pushing for an internal revamp of the Student Council


 

 


  1. Lobby for the implementation of the University Student Government (USG)*
    1. Revise the internal structure of the activities assembly to promote a political and advocacy-based student government
    2. Study the feasibility of having an autonomous, independent judiciary body in the Student Council through the merging of the Officers Monitoring Board (OMB) and the Ethics Committee
    3. Overhaul the Legislative Assembly (LA) structure for more effective student representation in policy-making
  2. Strengthen the communication and collaboration among sectors for a more productive student body
    1. Demand support from the administration in mobilizing student-led activities*
    2. Reinforce the Streamlining Committee on Research of Activities and Programs (SCRAP) to reduce redundancy in activities

 

 


Foster a sense of collaboration, nationalism and accountability in the Lasallian Community



  1. Intensify voters’ education in the Lasallian community in preparation for the 2010 presidential elections
    1. Intensively encourage voters’ registration among eligible voters in the Lasallian community
    2. Use regular round-table discussion as a tool for the critical assessment and evaluation of current and future government platforms
    3. Conduct performance appraisal of government officials for better transparency and accountability
  2. Optimize resource sharing through the network of La Salle schools
    1. Do initiatives to help fulfill the Lasallian Youth Agenda (LaYA)
    2. Establish a union of Student Councils from La Salle schools
    3. Pool library resources, particularly for online subscriptions, among La Salle schools
    4. Expand advocacies to other La Salle campuses
  3. Maximize participation in alliances for effective student mobilization
    1. Expanding advocacies across the universities, particularly those on students’ rights and welfare
    2. Actively support the lobbying of the Students’ Rights and Welfare (STRAW) Bill
    3. Use the alliances as a venue for the discussion of student issues and as a platform for student-led legislation
  4. Tap core competencies of each college for more sustainable holistic community development initiatives
    1. Support current La Salle initiatives (such as the One Million Trees project) and pioneer research initiatives for the environment
    2. Conduct alternative livelihood programs for partner communities
    3. Initiate long-term literacy programs for basic reading, writing and computer skills
    4. Advocate health and family planning among poor communities
